6 weeks??!!!

There it is, popping up at the bottom of my Training Peaks calendar…  Ironman Boise 70.3 is only 6 weeks away.

Suddenly it feels like I need more time, like I’m not ready, like I wasted all this good winter training time.    Of course this is not true and there is no doubt Liz will have me ready to go.  But the panic reaction the brain makes when it realizes the first BIG race of the year is approaching can be quite a head trip!  HOW CAN IT BE ALMOST JUNE ALREADY?

And so it is back to playing games with my mind.  Put my head down and focus on the week at hand without looking beyond.  First, get through THIS week’s race.  Then a purposeful rest week in order to recover well.  Then focus on some strong build weeks to prep for Boise.  Then a solid taper.  And only THEN finally can I look ahead to my first 70.3 race of 2009.

There is still time!

I hope. :)

You've got the right plan!! Enjoy the race this weekend, then focus on the task at hand. You'll be ready to rock Boise in 6 weeks, no doubt!

Ah the mind games. To echo my FB comment of a few days ago it is comforting to me to know I'm not the only one that goes through this.

Of course you are on top of it. Seems like you acknowledged it very well and now you are simply doing what needs to be done. Can't wait to stalk you online at this race and read about it!

This race is one I'm very interested in -- I grew up only three hours from Boise and I love the area.

Molly, you have The Best Trainer. Believe in ELF. She will get you there ready to Rock The Race.
You KNOW you can do it. You have done 70.3 before without training properly. This will be far better. Just remember to take your sherpa to the race day. ;-) He seems to bring you luck and keep your head together.

Wow - you think that YOU'RE nervous... how about IM CdA a week after Boise...? Yeah - it could be worse for you, my friend :) But hey - we're in (virtually) the same boat, right? And knowing Liz, she'll have you MORE than prepared! You'll do great!

Do your best to stay calm, this is a B Race, it's a race but it's not theee race. It's all to be ready for the big daddy later on. I 'B Raced' all my halfs last year and the best time and PRs b/c I was low key and calm.

You're so ready.

Hey how did your first triathlon go? Is it on the same course as the Napa Valley vintage half ironman? YOu have worked so hard this off season that I am sure you are already "ready" for the race!
