Fried (frīd) Slang. Tired out; exhausted.

Suffice it to say, it’s Sunday evening and I am fried.  It’s been a very long week!  I also need to say, “I have the best friends and family ever.  How else can I explain the large number of people who came out to ride ~48 miles in pouring rain with me?  You people, you know who you are – you rock.”

Due to weather and various life circumstances, our planned ride of 10 people wound up being 7.  Still, it was amazing to see people show up in the middle of a rainstorm to go for a long bike ride!   I didn’t get the camera out during the worst rainy moments, I was too busy trying to keep from crashing my bike.

Nigel presiding over the ride preparations.  At this point, I was thinking “it’s not raining hard, let’s GO!”

Jeff played with his Valentine’s present on the way up Canada Road.

Our destination – Upper Crystal Springs Reservoir.  The Pacific Ocean and Half Moon Bay are on the other side of those hills.  It was pouring at this point but you can’t really see the rain hitting the water.

Jeff and I got there first so someone had to take our photo.

I’m not sure if Nigel is happy with what he was eating here.

Although we got quite wet riding through the storm on the way out, it wasn’t until we encountered an unexpected and brutal headwind for the last 1/4 of the ride that we began to enjoy our day a bit less.  It was a long – and not especially pleasant – slog back.

As a reward for our hard work, we wiped the mud off our bodies, pulled on some clean clothes and went out for a well-deserved meal at BJs.  Looking at our table, I’m pretty sure no one can eat like a group of triathletes/cyclists after a hard ride!  No one had the energy to pose, they were too busy cramming food in their mouths.

Ah... the weather for your ride yesterday looked like the same weather for my ride down here. Unfortunately, my ride came to a screeching halt when my husband completely wiped out on the wet roads and messed up his shoulder.

Great job... and great photos/video! For a minute there I thought that we ME riding behind you. :o)

Way to get out there!! You never know when it's going to be pouring rain in a race too so I think it's awesome that you all rode anyway. And food seems to taste much better afterwards too!

Nicely done in getting out there in the rain and rocking it. And very solid numbers for the week.

Rain riding. **shudder** I'll only do it if I get STUCK in the rain. (I will run in the rain, but doesn't seem as miserable).

You are hardcore!
